Crucible Matchmaking Check-in

Control Week 1

• Had no SBMM or platform restrictions for matchmaking
• Instead had default matchmaking
• Loose SBMM was applied same day at 7pm

Default Matchmaking

• This is never supposed to be used
• Day 1, it did
• This type ignores everything, including skill
• Only focuses on latency for 15 seconds of matchmaking
• After that, lag city

Loose SMBB Results

• 140,000 hours of control played and 11% more players than first week of last season
• Average matchmaking time was 5 to 10 seconds
• For highest and lowest skilled players (the 0.1%), matchmaking was anywhere from 90 to 240 seconds
• Better skill differential between all players
• Mercy games down 4%
• Games that go to time rose 4%
• Players quitting rose 8-12%

Future Plans

• Extending time loose SBMM applies before opening up pool
• Checking new analytics for all players
• Adding quitter protection for Control in future patch
